Guest Post: How to Make Destination Wedding Gift Bags

A-list wedding planner, Beth Helmstetter of Beth Helmstetter Events knows that details matter when it comes to planning a destination wedding. We asked her to share her secrets putting together a great welcome bag to greet guests upon their arrival. If you’re at a loss for what to include, here are some great ideas to consider:0094 0095Something Refreshing: Water, wine or another local specialty is appreciated when guests are arrive after a long flight. We love to customize the bottled beverage either with a custom label or even just a little tag and ribbon.

Something Sweet: Satisfy your guests’ sweet tooth with local candies or cookies from the region.

Something Salty: Nuts, trail mix, olives or anything else savory will be a perfect addition.

Something Fresh: Local fruits are always a hit for your health conscious guests.0101

The Details: Don’t forget to include a handwritten welcome letter and any logistical details about the weekend in the bag. You can never give your guests enough information on the itinerary, directions or shuttle details.

Lastly, don’t forget to find the perfect bag to communicate your wedding style. We love a great tote (try the Mini Ibiza Tote from Pottery Barn Kids) that guests can use over and over again long after the wedding. And rather than customizing the bag with anything related to the wedding, I recommend a little tag tied on the handles of the bag so guests will truly get a useful gift. For an added touch, repackage all of the treats with labels that are cohesive with the look and feel of the wedding and stationery. This is a tiny touch that guests will love.
